Who can become

a B Corp

In order to be a B Corp you must be a:

  • A for profit entity

  • Have 12 months of operation (from first customer invoice)

  • Any size of company (sole traders can certify)

I’m a start-up can I certify?

Yes. But you must have 12 months of trading (from first customer invoice).

I’m a sole trader can I certify?

Yes. Make sure you’re on the 0 worker track when you set up your assessment.

Can non profits become a B Corp?

AUSTRALIA - No. The only type of non profit company that can certify are Companies Limited by Guarantee without DGR status.

NEW ZEALAND - In New Zealand, companies with charitable status must demonstrate that they derive their income from business activity and not donations, and will maintain this business model. New Zealand companies with charitable status that wish to become certified must contact B Lab Australia and New Zealand to determine eligibility.

Is Pending B available in Australia and New Zealand?

At this stage Pending B is not available in Australia and New Zealand.
