1. Who can become a B Corp
B Corp certification is for Australian and New Zealand businesses that are for profit and have a minimum 12 months trading.
Can these groups certify as a
B Corp in Australia & New Zealand?
Start-ups
Yes. But you must have 12 months of trading. This begins from the first contract or first employee
Please note Pending B is not available in Australia or New Zealand.
Non-profits
In Australia only non profit companies that are Limited by Guarantee without DGR status can certify*
In New Zealand, companies with charitable status must derive income from business activity, not donations.*
Other structures
Mutuals, cooperatives and XXXX may be eligible for B Corp certification but must contact B Lab Australia and New Zealand to determine eligibility.
Sole traders are eligible but must select the 0 workers size.
