Our strategy
Our global vision is for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for all people and the planet. Our regional aim is to improve the culture and practice of business in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand so that the economy builds community and regenerates the environment.
Immense challenges
Prior to the catastrophic bushfire season in Australia and the global Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Australia and New Zealand were already facing immense economic, social and environmental challenges like technology disruption, the rise of Asia, climate change and environmental decline, changing demographics, loss of trust & social cohesion
Without the business sector, these challenges will not be met and our countries will be on the path to slow decline.
Outcomes
In the face of this challenge B Lab ANZ's 2020 - 2024 strategy seeks these outcomes:
-
To change the culture and practice of people in business so that impact-driven business is the norm.
-
To ensure vastly greater numbers of businesses improve their impact on workers, community and the environment.
Impact
These improvements will contribute to this impact:
-
Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to meet imminent challenges and improve social and environmental outcomes
-
progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
-
our economic system operating within a safe and just space for humanity.
Goals
Our aim is to improve business culture and practice across ANZ, which means we have ambitious goals. By 2024 there will be:
-
25,000 businesses operating like B Corps
-
~40,000 people working in B Corps
-
~25 million people being served by businesses like B Corps.

FY21 focus areas
Our goals are ambitious and the impact we seek is urgent for people and the planet. We will only get there if we work together. In this financial year working together is going to take place across four themes
B Locals
Strategic intent
We will enable people in business to understand and improve the impact of their own business, connect with others on the same path and drive change in other organisations.
Focus in FY21
Growing and connecting the B Corp community through B Locals
Business consultants and groups
Strategic intent
We will work in partnership with industry groups to support their members to succeed in the new economic paradigm. We will skill up consultants and advisers to support businesses to improve their impact.
Focus in FY 21
Reaching more businesses through consultants and industry groups, including through the development of the B Consultants program and customised training for industry groups
Procurement
Strategic intent
We will work in partnership to advocate for governments, not-for-profits and large businesses to adopt policies and practices that enable business to have more positive impacts
Focus in FY21
Building the case for organisations to buy from B Corps and working with B Corps to build relationships with procurement leaders in government, not-for-profit and private sectors
Investors
Strategic intent
We will work in partnership to influence investors to measure and value social and environmental outcomes in their investment decisions
Focus in FY 21
Initial discussions with B Corps and partners on options to achieve this aim
