Maths Pathway supports teachers to have a greater impact in the classroom through a Learning and Teaching Model that delivers truly engaging and personalised learning for each student.

Why did your business become a Certified B Corporation?

Maths Pathway might look like a business, but at heart we’re a social movement, driven and dedicated to changing the world one maths-loving student at a time. That’s why we became a Certified B Corporation. We want to be the example for social change, to show our customers and community that we consider the impact of our decisions and follow best practice when it comes to sustainability.

What changes did you make during the certification process?

The certification process highlighted some policies and practices that we didn’t have in place and provided good examples of how we could perform better socially, environmentally and for our team. This gave us a great starting point to develop new policies and processes, and to formalise things we were already doing.

What are the positive impact your business has on environment, workers, and/or community?

At Maths Pathway, our mission is to build a future in which every child who leaves school does so fully numerate and confident in their ability to think mathematically. Because if we’re to meet the challenges of the future — like climate change — we’re going to need all STEM brains on deck. In the six years since the birth of Maths Pathway, this stance has helped us grow from two teachers, to a thriving network of more than 2,200 teachers across Australia.

Do you have impact improvements planned?

Currently we’re focusing on reducing our energy and water usage by learning new ways to track our consumption and implementing improvements regularly. We’re also committed to educating our team [about] changes that will have a positive impact on the community and the environment.

What benefits have you experienced from being a Certified B Corporation?

We’re really proud to be a Certified B Corp. It allows us to show how much we care about communities locally and globally. We get access to tools and resources to improve our impact, and to reduce any negative effects to the environment.

Our B Corp status also helps us to attract employees who care about their work and want to be part of a company that is committed to doing good. We’ve also been able to connect with other B Corps to share knowledge on how to improve our impact.
