BFTW Overall and Environment: Munch Crunch Organics

Australia’s First, 100% Certified Organic, Multi-Farm Network, providing members with an affordable solution to sourcing real, nutritious food. Munch Crunch Organics partner with local people and create a lasting change for your health, the community and the planet. We had a chat to Roisin from Munch Crunch Organics to learn more about their impact.

1. What makes your company Best For The World?

Munch Crunch Organics was built on a few basic principles; everyone should be able to access and enjoy nutritious food that is good for them, good for those who grow it, and good for Mother Nature.

To that end, we are committed to our core initiatives in adhering to strict certified organic standards and supporting local Australian farmers who practice sustainable agriculture and operate on a ‘Harvest to Order’ basis that cuts food wastage considerably. We are also proud to be plastic-free, use totally recyclable packaging (and offer a pick up service to members without access to recycling centres), provide complimentary compost bags to our members, and run our shed entirely on solar power. We also continually try to educate and inspire our members and the wider community to take an active interest in where their food comes from, how it affects their health, and how food production impacts the environment.

Everyday we look for more ways to continue to work closer towards our mission and improve the positive impact we have on our community, customers, workers, suppliers and planet. We believe business should, and can be, used as a force for good, and will continue to do all we can do to make a difference!

2. What makes you stand out from other companies?

We are proud to be the only 100% Certified Organic, home delivery business between Brisbane and Sydney. We believe that what makes us really stand out from other companies, is our commitment to sustainability from paddock to plate.

By becoming a certified B Corp and Australian Certified Organic, we have committed to high national and international standards when it comes to how we run our business. From our valuable relations with our local farmers, to how we try to educate our members, we believe that our holistic approach to doing good business makes us a true B Corp.

We believe it is more pertinent than ever for everyone to pay closer attention to the impact their everyday decisions have as an individual, and on community and global level, particularly when climate change is increasing so dramatically.

We are thrilled that our efforts have been acknowledged by B Lab and our award for Best for the World and Best for the Environment only inspire us to do more! 3. How do you plan to celebrate?

We’ll be rounding up our farmers and the rest of our awesome team for a couple of beers and a few ‘cheers’ to celebrate our achievement and give each other a big old pat on the back!

4. Part of being “Best for the World” is striving to always use your business as a force for good. What initiatives do you have planned for the coming year to continue to be Best for the World?

We acknowledge that using business as a force for good is an on-going, ever changing process that adapts and evolves with our current climate. Over the last few years, we have learned a lot from our different stakeholders. We plan to expand our reach, and give more people access to the nutritious and delicious 100% Certified Organic food we enjoy – starting with our upcoming launch into Sydney this month! We also plan to work closely with other B Corps and conscious businesses to exchange ideas and help promote our cause as a joint force – especially as we try to educate and inspire more people to make a difference within their own homes. We also plan to work closer with our farmers to expand our meat and produce offering in a way that works better for our customers – be that choice, size or frequency, whilst maintaining and improving upon our sustainable practices.

5. What advice do you have for other B Corps and purpose-led businesses that want to improve their impact?

No change is too small! It’s worth the research, it’s worth the investment, it’s worth the effort. You can entirely balance purpose with profit, and run a successful business whilst positively impacting the world around you. Speak to the people within and outside your business, be open to new ideas, and always consider how each action will have a reaction. Let’s make the world a better place!
