BFTW 2019 Environment: Memobottle

“Growing up in a small coastal town south of Melbourne our co-founders Jesse Leeworthy and Jonathan Byrt saw first hand the devastating effect that single use plastic water bottles were having on our oceans and environment, an issue not unique to Australia.” We spoke to Creative Director at memobottle, Calum Shand to hear how they are increasing their social and environmental impact one bottle at a time!

1. What makes your company Best For The World?

Our aim at memobottle is to end single-use water bottle consumption. By reinvesting portions of our profits from memobottles sold, we can develop functional solutions that help to educate and adapt to a changing culture that enable a positive social and environmental impact. Every memobottle sold provides one person with two months’ access to clean water

2. What makes you stand out from other companies?

At memobottle, our aim is to inspire change for the better through our products, by creating awareness around sustainability and best practice. We care about the future generations and we want to ensure we can lead a better world. Because when we all do the right thing, we all win. 3. How do you plan to celebrate?

We’re going to have a little rooftop party at our office with our team and close friends. We’ve got the Piñata and a solid playlist at the ready!

4. Part of being “Best for the World” is striving to always use your business as a force for good. What initiatives do you have planned for the coming year to continue to be Best for the World?

We plan on collaborating with some world-class B Corp companies. This will allow us to step closer to our ambitious goal of ending single-use water bottle consumption globally.

5. What advice do you have for other B Corps and purpose-led businesses that want to improve their impact?

Set goals, stay focused and know that you are making a difference. We all have goals and this is a powerful force. Momentum is key!
